Nice to meet you. I’m Gemira.
With her diverse experiences in media, leadership, and community service, Gemira is dedicated to making a positive impact on her campus and beyond, inspiring others through her work and commitment to service. While at Jacksonville State University, Gemira has been apart of the WLJS radio staff for the past three semesters. In the first semester she had a segment called “Cocky Talk” that highlighted campus news.
Currently, she has a show called “Talks with a Gem” that allows her to communicate random and popular topics to her audience. On the air, she serves as the moderator and facilitator of conversation with her guests. During her junior year, she was involved in podcasting, where she created a show for her peers. The show, titled “Kids These Days” discussed how adolescents and young teens have changed drastically in the past generations.
Gemira is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she currently serves as the corresponding, recording, and financial secretary within her chapter. In addition, she is a member of the Black Student Union, NAACP, and serves as Vice President of the NPHC exec board.
